Web design sparked my interest in the late '90's as a creative and technical outlet. I wandered away for several years as life moved me in a different direction, but jumped back into the game almost four years ago.
Upon reentry I noticed significant changes in the way sites were being created. The concept and practice of separating style and content using CSS fascinates me. Thanks to developments in standards-based design and development, these days the process of coding websites can be just as creative and intentional as designing them.
I can honestly say I have a passion for this stuff. I'm a learner. I need to be connected to an environment where there is a constant flow of opportunities to discover and develop new things. I think that's one reason why designing websites appeals to me so much - the industry changes at a blazing pace, with new and refined methods and theories that involve graphic design, technology, marketing, communications, and relationships.
By default this is the perfect environment for me. I can't get enough of it.
I'm presently employed full-time for International Teams USA, a non-profit organization located in the Chicago area. My work for International Teams spans project management, art direction, graphic design for web and print, and web development.
On the side I pursue freelance work opportunities in the areas of web design and development for anyone in need of my services.
